CAMPING presenta ‘EL AÑO SIN VERANO’, de Carlos Maté y Elena Urucatu

 

“El año sin verano” es un momento íntimo de lectura, una invitación a sumergirse en historias de fantasmas a la luz de una vieja chimenea. A recordar los tiempos infantiles en que continuábamos la lectura nocturna bajo las sábanas con una linterna.

Emprenderemos un viaje por un libro circular que se bifurca constantemente, que toma vida y adquiere forma física en las acciones de varios personajes, varios fantasmas que nos acompañarán en la sala. Experimentaremos juntos un tiempo que se descompone y multiplica, y nos sumergiremos en historias de poetas locos encerrados por la lluvia:  historias sobre la relación del  extraño año sin verano de 1816 con la crisis ecológica actual; del nacimiento de la criatura de Frankenstein y la cercana extinción humana y leeremos historias de vampiros a la vez que veremos lentamente rodar la ruleta de las extinciones en el planeta, el ciclo de vida y muerte y la profunda oscuridad que reside en el  alma del terrible depredador que es el ser humano.

ELENA URUCATU y CARLOS MATÉ trabajan a través de escultura, instalación, video, performance, arquitectura o diseño en proyectos que tratan sobre nuestra relación con la cultura, el conocimiento y el arte. Entre líneas una ambigüedad o convivencia de extremos: por un lado, la necesidad de un pensamiento posthumano, la búsqueda de ciertas claves con la que afrontar la crisis ecológica y la sombra de la posible extinción que representa la actual época del antropoceno; por otro, construcciones individuales sobre esta misma situación: obsesivos mundos interiores cargados de subjetividad, donde el arte y la cultura sería el único punto de anclaje posible con un mundo que se deshace.

‘El año sin verano’ es la segunda acción de CAMPING, una iniciativa que abre el espacio de la galería NF/ NIEVES FERNANDEZ a diversos actores culturales, con el fin de que puedan desarrollar y exhibir sus proyectos y creaciones libremente. Tomando como soporte de sus acciones el espacio expositivo, los diversos actores desplegarán sus proyectos temporales interactuando con la exposición instalada en ese momento en la galería.

CAMPING es un proyecto de Nerea e Idoia Fernández directoras de NF/NIEVES FERNANDEZ y de Blanca Cortés, abogada especializada en propiedad intelectual.

‘El año sin verano’ [The year without a summer] is an intimate moment of reading, an invitation to immerse yourself in ghost stories by the light of an old fireplace. To remember the childhood times when we continued reading at night under the covers with a flashlight.

We will embark on a journey through a circular book that is constantly forking, which comes to life and takes physical form in the actions of various characters, various ghosts that will accompany us in the room. Together we will experience a time that decomposes and multiplies, and we will immerse ourselves in stories of crazy poets locked in by the rain: stories about the relationship of the strange year without summer of 1816 with the current ecological crisis; of the birth of Frankenstein’s creature and the near human extinction and we will read stories of vampires while we will slowly see the wheel of extinctions roll on the planet, the cycle of life and death and the deep darkness that resides in the soul of the terrible predator that is the human being.

ELENA URUCATU and CARLOS MATÉ work through sculpture, installation, video, performance, architecture or design in projects that deal with our relationship with culture, knowledge and art. Between the lines an ambiguity or coexistence of extremes: on the one hand, the need for post-human thinking, the search for certain keys with which to face the ecological crisis and the shadow of possible extinction represented by the current Anthropocene epoch; on the other, individual constructions on the same situation: obsessive inner worlds loaded with subjectivity, where art and culture would be the only possible anchor point with a world that is falling apart.

‘El año sin verano’ is CAMPING‘s second action, an initiative that will open NF/ NIEVES FERNANDEZ’ gallery space to various cultural actors, so that they can freely develop and exhibit their projects and creations. Taking the exhibition space as a support for their actions, the various actors will display their temporary projects interacting with the exhibition installed at that time in the gallery.
