Gareth Nyandoro es conocido por sus grandes obras en papel, que a menudo desbordan su formato bidimensional para convertirse en instalaciones que incluyen recortes de papel y objetos encontrados en los mercados de Harare, donde vive y trabaja. La principal fuente de inspiración del artista es el paisaje cotidiano de la ciudad y sus habitantes, tanto dentro del contexto local como del panorama cultural más amplio de Zimbabue. Inspirado por su formación en grabado y derivado del proceso de grabado, la técnica distintiva del artista, Kucheka cheka, recibe su nombre de las declinaciones en infinitivo y presente del verbo cheka en shona, que significa “cortar”.
Ha realizado exposiciones en instituciones como el Palais de Tokyo, Quetzal Art Centre, Rijksakademie y Zeitz MOCAA, entre otras.
Su obra se encuentra en colecciones como el MoMA New York, Zeitz MOCAA, Fondation Sindika Dokolo, Instituto Inhotim, Rachofsky Collection, SAM Art Projects y National Gallery of Zimbabwe.
